Maruša Mišmaš is the best Slovenian middle-distance runner. She holds national records in the 2,000 and 3,000 metres steeplechase, which is also her flagship discipline.

In 2014, she was named the most promising young sports personality, and a year later she became the Balkan Athletics Indoor Champion in the 3,000 metres steeplechase and the Balkan Cross Country Champion.
In 2016, she competed in her first European Athletics Championship in Amsterdam. Unfortunately, an injury prevented her from competing at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics after she had already met the Olympic qualifying standard.
Perseverance in rehabilitation after the injury was repaid at the 2018 European Championship in Berlin, when she competed in the finals of the 3,000 metres steeplechase and set the new national record.
With perseverance and hard work, Maruša already won a ticket for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics at the Diamond League athletic competition in Shanghai in 2019, and in the fall of the same year, she also competed at the IAAF World Championship in Doha, Qatar.
2020 has been full of surprises, also for athletes. Rescheduling of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games surprised Maruša, but it nevertheless motivated her for intensive further preparation for the time when the Olympic Games will take place and she will be awaiting them in top shape!
